Discover Re's Core division provides insurance for large commercial
business. The primary business of Discover Re since our founding, the Core
division provides insurance to individual buyers seeking to retain frequency
losses on their balance sheet, but who need excess coverage over a
self-insured or self-funded, (large deductible) retention.
We evaluate and analyze each risk to tailor program structure and coverages
to meet the unique needs of each customer. We recognize that our individual
risk programs require a high degree of financial sophistication and a
significant level of commitment by the customer to administer the various
facets of an umbrella program.
These buyers generally have better than industry average loss activity as a
direct result of their assumption of risk mindset.
